Title: West Philadelphia Radio Association, Al. Jorett
Post by: W3UEC on March 21, 2022, 10:43:27 AM
These perilous times make me think of "olden days" when the West Philadelphia Radio Association was strongly associated with Civil Defense.  I am thinking of the time about 1955 and my recollection was that the club had a "shack" in the Cassidy School in Overbrook and the president was Al. Jorett (sp.?) Somehow I recall the call sign, W3OWK and that there was a 20 meter beam on the roof along with Collins equipment.

I would love to hear any other reminiscences or history of that club, its activities, its members, etc.

Alas, at my current arthritic age of 84, I think it would be difficult to follow the club motto, "If you hear the siren, bend over as far as possible so you can kiss your ass goodbye."
