XIEGU G106 New QRP Radio Coming Soon?
I was watching the latest video from Waters & Stanton Ltd and they mentioned a new radio by Xiegu called the G106. It is said to be a replacement for the Xiegu G1M.
The Coverage is from 80 to 10 meters in AM/SSB/CW/WFM, it also covers the FM broadcast band as well which probably accounts for the WFM.
Details are scant right now

I bet it will not sell for $250.00 like the G1M! :P 8)

Oh I can't wait not for "the bunch" to all have the same look at the Chinese junk coming soon videos. Just make sure and click on their affiliate links to support their channels.

yep.. pity about the g1m... could have been a classic little rig, but came with a bad mic, poorly designed/soldered jacks that broke off the pcb when used, and poor passive cooling (rig got hot just in receive)...
i am going to guess that this qrp rig will not be released with a polished firmware... the g1m was, like its predecessor, orphaned in development from the start
good to see another rig though... this means more used rigs on the market

"this means more used rigs on the market".... more "qrp isn't my thing listings". LOL

They should focus on fixing all the problems with the X6100 and G90 before releasing more products.
They are creating a very bad reputational pattern....release a half-baked product, fix a few easy things, then move on to the next product. There is no way I would ever buy a Xiegu radio after seeing how they handled the GSOC,X6100,and G90, all of which are missing major promised features.

They are continuing a very bad reputational pattern...

Yes indeed, very good point!

don't get it, I am always reading problems with these radios, in defence, I think alot of users might be able to remedy the faults.
But for me I'd purchase a anytone 10 meter radio, they say they put out 30 watts ssb, but I doubt that, but the cost is
much less than a Xiegu and build quality is good, no spectrum display.

looking at the reviews and online manual, it appears that this qrp rig is a rehashed G1M with a new exterior, addt'l bands, FM receive chip, but same GUI, same [lack of] features, single firmware update (1.08 vs 1.07), no cw messaging, same memory slots, and a non-functional digital interface...
pity, but to be expected... it probably works for CW, although some reports show unclean transmit and even worse SSB output
really wish xiegu would come up with a polished qrp rig

I've had the G-90 for several years now. Haven't updated the firmware from 1.74 (if it works why mess around?). It has proven to be a good radio and the few small quirks may have been fixed by newer firmware. I'm thinking about the 6100, but with Xiegu radios I think its best to wait until the model has been around for a while. So maybe in a few years I'll consider the G106.

an XIEGU G106 HF Transceiver SDR 5W SSB/CW/AM Three Modes,
& with WFM Broadcast Reception . . does now seem to be available.

A few videos are out - seems some folks not too impressed
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uo0IJ_YFcVU and a few cheap laffs
He was sent another radio that did better

Its ZiGoo - I'll pass.

I watched both those videos and they both cast a bad review on the Xiegu radio. I'm not a radio snob, I know the price is appealing. But just like MFJ products, and Xiegu radios I am always reading about complaints or upgrades, or loose connections.
-
They have ruined their reputation by releasing half-baked products and then basically moving onto the next thing without really fixing the issues with the previous radios.
-
Keep right on funding the enemy. You will not like the return on your investment.
-
Wow!. I didn't realize how big of a piece of dog poo that radio is. He wasn't kidding. That thing should not even be on the market. I pity the poor newcomer that chooses that thing because it looks good and is what they can afford. Bad news in a can.
-
Every radio after the G90 has pretty much been in that same boat...prematurely released and promptly abandoned while they work on the next new thing. While the G90 is better than the rest, it still has issues that were never fixed. I would not ever consider another Xiegu radio until they have a proven track record of not abandoning their radios to move on to the next new thing.
If you really want to see a disaster, take a look at how they handled the GSOC.

I've seen that radio for $289 on sale twice at R&L over the last couple of months. And even then I wasn't interested in it. Even if it didn't have any flaws out of the box, there is no compelling reason to go out and buy it.
They sent YouTuber Mike a flawed unit to review. (What was Xiegu thinking?) And frankly it sucked. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uo0IJ_YFcVU
They later sent another one to him that was fixed. But why did Xiegu send out a bad unit to a YouTube reviewer in the first place? Don't they have quality control?

FYI:
for anyone considering this xiegu rig: note that there is *no* headphone jack! you must construct your own interface using the 8-pin mic jack (i do not know if the mic has a headphone jack, as the manual does not say)
