Title: Connecticut CW Club
Post by: N1BRI on August 31, 2022, 05:51:30 PM
I am part of a small group of guys looking to get a CW club going. We are based in Connecticut and we like to meet in-person whenever possible. You don't need to live in CT to be a member, though it makes meeting in-person easier hihi. We hope to do little contests (Our inaugural contest will be 09-17-2022 12:00UTC - 09-18-2022 12:00UTC), showcase ops and their projects/achievements, etc. Like many other clubs, we are very much interested in helping new-comers learn and enjoy CW. Of course there are a million clubs already out there, I know. But we are just looking for another way to have fun and meet some folks along the way. If you think you might be interested, and especially if you live in CT, please consider checking us out: https://www.ctcw.club -- We are actively looking for contributors and very much appreciate your patience with any technical difficulties as we get going. All the best and 73!

I’m in CT, nearly 100% CW since ‘92, but not a “joiner”.  Good luck, maybe I’ll catch you on the air.  KD1JT

Thanks KD1JT!

Appreciate it. BTW, I checked my logs and it looks like you caught me on the air once already :D 73!

Hi N1BRI,
I tried the website www.ctcw.club, but attempting to connect to it flagged my antivirus software which said it has an unmatching security certificate which was used for a different url.
I took a screenshot of the message which I can post here later if it's something you want to see.
I figured you'd might want to know about it?
Thank you,

Thanks for the heads up. Which antivirus software? I suspect it doesn't like the letsencrypt cert. (For the curious https://letsencrypt.org/). Thanks!

my browser threw a flag (certificate issue) but I overrode it.

Hmm, kinda interested in why you guys are having an issue. https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=ctcw.club gives an A rating-- appreciate the heads up though.

Please, not another contest! How about a net, where people can learn CW grammar and procedures, instead of just throwing their callsign out there in constant contest mode. I can never tell if they're answering my CQ or just blindly hoping someone hears them.

Hi N1BRI, FYI, (http://)I'm using the "Bitdefender" antivirus.

N8TGQ, I'm no big contester myself. We are talking about doing precisely what you're suggesting. I would love something like that!!
