I would like to correspond with anyone with ham radio or volunteer communicator experience during and after Hurricane Ian.

I was sent there, at Port Charlotte, but not as a volunteer and not in a ham radio role, so I'm likely "not the droid you're looking for."

I spoke to about a dozen hams who activated before and after Ian in the affected area and public safety systems generally held up except for Charlotte County (the fire chief sent a ham out in his radio truck to go find the EOC which had lost power, water, radios, and Internet).
The most common experience was the low turnout. In one county, not directly impacted, there were 98 members alerted by text to attend a radio net. 42 hams checked in on the net. 19 showed up for service. No county had enough hams for shelters, etc.

Good luck. If you find someone likely just played cards while pretending to be doing something.
