Following information is direct from Eric van Willegen, The Mighty KBC.

That will be sad.  US based shortwave broadcasters can't broadcast primarily to the US.  WRMI doesn't have many lobes that cover the US.

WRMI is heard well in VA at 2200 UTC on 5950 kHz.

USA shortwave stations claim they broadcast elsewhere in the world, but are easily heard in the USA.

WRMI has almost zero listenability on the west coast.  Well, spotty in the locations I lived in.

I get that they can be heard in some places stateside.  That doesn't mean that is there primary target nor the primary lobe of radiation.

You are hearing them on the rear lobe of their antenna.  Jackie is more than likely hearing them via NVIS.

The midwest, not so much range.  The west coast?  Unless they are being beamed on an antenna heading to Mexico or Central America, reception won't be nearly as good.

That's all I was trying to say.  Anecdotal evidence aside.

SWL Radio is going away just like ham radio and commercial AM broadcast. It is archaic, waste of valuable land and energy. The only parties using those services are baby boomers, religious zealots, and government propaganda spreading their hate. Not only did KBC bite the dust in Germany, on Nov 9, 2022, WTWW in the USA was finally cancelled. Seems finally the Woke movement shined the light of truth and took away the money.

Hope you are still following the thread here, I am not in disagreement with the last post, but how is cc crane still selling all those sw portable table top radios? I bet a large majority of the users of those radios are using only the telescopic antenna, I could be wrong.

Maybe actually monitor the SW broadcasts. While nowhere near the amount of years past, there are still quite a number on air.

WRMI is audible nearly every night here in the PNW, on 49 and 31 meters, and on other forums SWLs talk about hearing the programs on the station as well. It may have dead spots here and there across the country, which probably vary according to propagation.

The Mighty KBC wasn't audible all over North America when it was broadcast from Germany. Maybe they'll get more listeners via WRMI. Maybe not. I guess they / we will all find out.
