Title: Yaesu 405D power when tuning on internal tuner
Post by: K4PVK on November 29, 2022, 04:03:30 PM
Does anyone know what the Yaesu 450D transceiver's power is when the internal tuner is going through the tuning process? It is automatically reduced and I am guessing down to 10 watts.

Do you own a watt meter?

I can't speak for your 450, but my FTdx-3000 does this when activating the tuner's 'tune' function, and sending a 100w carrier in CW mode:
Power output has a fast spike to the 10w level, then bobbles about the 2-3 watt level whilst tuning.
Note that there is a menu setting called 'EXT AMP TUNING PWR', which is menu item # 178 in my rig, and I have it set to 10w. My choices being 10, 20, 50 and 100w.

I've enabled my early (non-internal tuner) ft-450 "cs" button to send a cw carrier for tuning my external tuners, and I have measured that carrier at about 10 watts, I'm guessing yours does the same when tuning.
