I am posting for my brother who is a Ham radio operator. He has disabilities & we're trying to make sure he's able to better communicate. He is blind but also has neuropathy in his fingertips, making it difficult to operate his current set up. He is wondering if a base microphone that is typically used for a CB radio can be used on Ham radio. Or if anyone has ideas or information on other options. Thank you in advance!

i would think so with some tinkering. See if there is a ham club nearby and see if someone could help.

Could you provide a little more info about his setup? Does he use a mic that he has to key with his hand? Does he have VOX on his transceiver?
What is his transceiver? There are many microphones out there and I'm sure that several options are available for your brother. Let us know more.

I have a foot switch bolted to the floor. I use a headset so I can log contacts by typing into a computer keyboard.

It could be if you match levels, impedance, and supervision.
however, I would suggest a headset arrangement as probably the best solution. What mic and radios does he have or plan to use? It will not be "plug-and-play"!

I help out a local blind Ham and he uses a Heil microphone mounted on a regular microphone desktop stand along with a footswitch for PTT and this works well for him. I added a foam "windscreen" to the mic, mostly to help protect him if he accidentally bumps his face into the end of the mic.

P.S. The floor has carpeting so a couple of adhesive velcro strips (the hook side) seem to hold the footswitch in place on the short pile carpet quite well.
