Title: Finding Local RF-Direct DMR Repeaters

I’m new to DMR with a Anytone AT-D878UVII_ HT and following the RT Systems video on getting started https://youtu.be/w5xrH7urisU

I get to the point where I’ve entered my Radio ID, a few chosen Talkgroups and selected/imported 12 nearby (3-20mi distant) DMR repeaters from a RepeaterBook search.  The next comment on the video is to try them and find which is the best repeater. That seems to jump over a lot…

Would I want to add them all to a Zone and then associate each with the Parrot TG and then see which works best from my QTH? I’m a little confused there as some sources indicate Parrot is 9990/Private and others 9998/Group. Does it vary with each repeater or will either work for all?

I also note that the RT Systems programmer added those repeaters as TS2 - is Parrot on both TS1 & 2 always?

OK, got it figured. RT Systems DL from RepeaterBook doesn’t have the correct TS for the Parrot TG on the several repeaters I’m working. I’ll have to go in and manually curate based on other sources. Bummer…

If they're brandmeister machines you can sometimes get more info from the dashboard there.  Often there will be a sponsor website link which has even more useful info.  At our site we show coverage maps and offer codeplugs for our area.
