Title: SunSDR2 DX for mobile (vehicle)
Post by: KI5RLR on March 02, 2023, 07:30:40 PM
I would like to install an SDR that can rx/tx on HF/VHF/UHF in my vehicle.

It would be ideal to have the bulk of the gear in the back of my vehicle with a 'control unit' and mic input up front around my center console.

I am imagining a tablet as the 'control unit' located near my center console which is connected to an SDR in the rear of my vehicle.

The SunSDR2 DX has a 'rugged mobile' look to it, but I have never used one.

How much 'compute' power is required to run that unit?

Thanks!

Why do you want to send your dollars to Russia?

Future spares and support is potentially an issue too.

That is an excellent point! I was not aware the SunSDR radios were made in Russia. I definitely don't want to go that route.

How would you go about putting together a mobile SDR setup? I am ok assembling one using available components. I can place/connect PCBAs, PSU, various connectors, etc into an enclosure. As far as software goes I am comfortable with Windows and basic Linux.

Thanks!
