Title: Adding an SDR Receiver to my Hybrid Tranceivers
Post by: K1KIM on March 08, 2023, 06:29:19 PM
I am looking to add a waterfall to my older transceivers as well as the Yaesu 991 for real time display.

I have looked at the MFJ 1708SDR and RSP1A to run with SDR Console. I am looking for HF only so 1 antenna output will be sufficient I believe.

Looking for additional suggestions aside from the above.

That's pretty much what I run here and it's very successful. The RSP1A is probably the best price-performance ratio SDR around at the moment - very easy to work with. I have used SDRUno in the past, but have switched to SDRConsole now for ease of use and functionality.

A slightly different approach is to tap the IF. See https://www.sdr-kits.net/Panoramic-Adaptor-Tap-Boards for the board that fits your hybrid. See also  http://huprf.com/huprf/pat-board/ . You will need no external switchbox.
