Even when receiving an S9+20 to 30 dB ssb signal the display does not go up more than 3 or 4 bars (lines) on average. Is there a way to increase the height of the displayed signal?
Thank for any advice,

From the main screen, select MENU # 2. Select Ref. Turn the main dial clockwise anf thr REF Level will increase showing a greater display of noise floor and signals. 7 :) :)3 Woody

Bob, I have the same "issue" with IC-7300.
Changing the Ref level just lowers the baseline, just like it's supposed to.
But'd like to have a gain setting for the spectrum display, just like real spectrum analyzers do.

I would like to expand the vertical range of the spectrum analyzer. I could care less about the water fall.

I’ve read this complaint from many 7610 users. I don’t notice this problem with my 7300’s…they display decent peaks on stronger signals. All the REF control does is raise or lower the entire received display, including the noise floor “grass”…just looks distorted. I like to see the grass at just above the bottom of the graph. The actual signal peaks still remain stunted. So far, I haven’t read about any resolution to this problem, nor any proposed fix by Icom.

Thanks for the inputs everyone. It does sound like it would be an easy fix in firmware for Icom to give us. Hey Icom, are you listening?
