Title: Resurecting a MARS Station
Post by: W6WO on January 07, 2004, 09:44:01 PM
The Monterey Bay Amateur RadIo Association is very fortunate to have the use of the old MARS station at Ft Ord. We are in the process of restoring the whole site  and want to demonstrate its value to the community in the hopes we can hold onto it in perpetuity. I would like to hear of similar efforts at other locations. Please visit us on- line at  <http://www.n6ij.org> and contact me to arrange a visit when in the area.  We are especially interested in hearing from those who may have operated the station in the past.

You might contact the SMD for your area.

He/she (not the pervert kind) might be able to
get a "post support" team going for you.

We had a good one at A6USA/AAA9USA.   Those guys
were there all the time.

Ord did too, many moons ago, I ran a lotta
patches through them from AB8AT and some
operators were affiliate members.  I don't think
the post support concept had been hatched yet.

MacArthur had another nice station.
with a potent signal to the 'Nam.

You might start with the California North Army MARS Director, Maurice Valkema (mauryw6stw@aol.com).
