I'll repeat what I posted on another site the day it made the news. Photo of their rescued boat tells all, hull not breached (riding high) with only slight starboard list from un pumped bilge, mainmast still standing with furled sail on attached boom, whisker pole still secured says they had no idea how to jury rig a get home sail,  wire backstay and other wire mast stays still standing means they had no idea how to rig an emergency radio antenna, probably not even a basic NOAA current chart on board or no knowledge of how to make a drift log from life jacket and piece of cloth so with a pencil and wrist watch could make DR position plots from set and drift rate with or without a jury rigged sail. Both looked in fine physical condition and in hi spirits for such an ORDEAL. Obviously two Sunday sailors without a month's worth of Sundays experience between them.

Ships within visual range, the vhf radio should have been able to contact them. Deliberately get lost in hopes of a book/movie deal later?

From apnews dot com:

"They also had a new VHF radio, a ham radio, a weather satellite and a radio telephone. She says none worked, and they apparently had a communications failure with their new antenna."

Wonder if either one of them had a ham license?

Wonder if they even knew how to open the boxes that equipment came in...

They obviously never watched the "How to open the box that my new radio came in" blogs for their gear.  See, I knew these blogs had some value.  Not.

Half a dozen facts in the their story simply do not hold up to any level of fact-checking.

Interesting that anyone with common sense could see through this story in about half a minute.  Took the main stream media a lot longer than that to figure it out.

This took place in a western country. Here "women" are ENTITLED to everything: make false accusations against random men, have men forced to attend court in and out for a year because police automatically side with any deranged woman, cause men to give up trying to clear their name from allegations and commit suicide, in an age of EQUALITY they can use the "I'm a woman" various excuses and weapons, show up in court with kids in tow to elicit sympathy (if a man did that he'd be imprisoned on the spot for child abuse), shout and swear abuse, stab and poison men, take drugs and claim it was their "red flag" that did it, etc etc and yet still we need posters in government buildings to remind us with the slogan:

VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN IS UNACCEPTABLE.

Duh! You don't say? The obvious implication LOUD AND CLEAR to us or SUBLIMINAL to the unthinking brainwashed masses is:

VIOLENCE AGAINST MEN AND BOYS IS ACCEPTABLE.

And the police routinely carry out that violence on their behalf.

Likewise, to old ladies can fabricate any story they wish, since they are female, in the west, nothing will happen to them, they have every excuse, entitlement and ability. They would smell awfully fishy after 5 months at sea, and their story does smell very fishy, so there's that  Roll Eyes
