My brother is planning on taking all three exams next month. Provided he passes all three, what type call sign will he be assigned? And where in the sequence are currently assigned new Extra calls for region 8? (i.e. K?8??)

Or check AE7Q's page.  They're right at the top.  KE8IES was the last one assigned in 8-land, on Friday 11/9.

Thanks, guys. It was on AE7Q's site. I was there, but didn't scroll down the page far enough to see it.

If he qualifies as a new licensee at the Extra level, he'll be assigned AD8Ax. Last one so assigned was AD8AB. At Tech or General he'd get KE8Ixx.
