Interesting approach.  If I needed a new rig (I don't) or if I had a GR burning a hole in my pocket (I don't) then I would jump at this.  Based on the extensive reviews, this "entry level transceiver" seems like a great piece of kit.

I wonder the logic behind these much lower prices.  Maybe Icom is incentivizing dealers to eliminate the competition between 7300 and 7610?  Those who are undecided will either get the 7300 or make the decision to get the 7610.

Or maybe Icom is getting ready to phase out the 7300 for a 7310 version for around $2K with some of the 7610 features but not the higher price tag?

C'mon Kenwood and Yaesu - where are your entries into the SDR market?

And I though mine was a bargain at $1349.  Well, it was, and is.  And at a grand, they are a "steal".  There has never been a better time to be a ham.

Well I got my 7300 in October so after rebate it was $1250 and I got the Heil mike and cable with it which would be another $100. Back a month ago I thought it was a decent deal but after rebate at a grand this is one of the best buys in HF radio's out there.

I caught the deal at just the right time at HRO. I got the IC-7300 for $1099 with the $100 mail-in rebate - AND - the free Heil HM-12 & CC-1-I adapter cable. So I ended up with everything for a total cost of $999! I've gotten the radio and moved my 20 year old IC-756 aside and am learning the new radio.
