Nice pictures. The beam on the Radisson hotel's roof top must be good 80 feet from the ground!

Another case where a country's left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

Good luck to Ken, in all his endeavors.  He would never tell us if he needed any help, but here's his PayPal address if anybody wants to assist: kenneth@opskar.no

Thanks fer support from everyone! Much of the public services like landline phone, cellphone and internet is down frequently or vy slow. There are frequent power outages. Despite the situation, yes it is really frustrating, my safety is no issue as it is now. The hotel compound is guarded by armed security personell ( as well is my antennas hi). Taking a taxi yesterday to ARCEPs offices, yes during searching with metal detector upon returning to hotel  - the driver was armed with a machete and a gun- to keep us safe. Hotel is very supportive and keeps the spirit up, it is a great location indeed. Manana manana, no one know what future brings. I have some antenna maintenance to do if I get access - as it is now absolutely NO touching. The phone call - it is like waiting for power ball lottery. I have some great stories from the interrogation later. I could not believe what they asked about!

Ken,

I admire your positive attitude. What a disappointment this must be for you after you have invested so much time into this and money, too. We are all very much grateful for your efforts no matter how this story ends. It may very well be possible that you are making it easier for future DXpeditions in the region.

I'm sure many people are starting to worry about Ken's safety after not hearing from him for a couple of days now. Here's a quote from this morning's The Daily DX:

TT - Chad
LA7GIA, Ken, is safe and still in Chad. QRX for more details.

I suspect he's in a hard place.  Can't leave without his expensive equipment, but can't gather it up, nor can he operate.

At least he's in Chad. Could be worse he could be in Washington DC, or California...

Very unfortunate. I know that it must be rough for Ken not to be able to get on the air. Thankfully I made it through before he got shut down. Stay safe Ken and hope you get all your equipment back!

Wow.  In a small way this reminds me of a time I was "grounded" at the Arizona Port of Entry for some bullshit issues.  Log violations, some equipment did not pass a trumped up inspection.  To make it worse they barely spoke English.  After an hour or so of fighting the idiot authorities, pushing well past "lockup" territory, another driver told me to quit fighting and just ask, "how much?"

$250 dollars CASH and 5 minutes later I was on my way.  They understood that.  Right here in the good old USA.

Had a similar experience in Jamaica. Flew into Montego Bay and they confiscated all of my gear and told me I needed "more papers". I was very young (19) and naive and didn't get it - drove the rental car (that I was too young to rent) across the country to Kingston - got more "official" papers from the telecom ministry - drove back and was told that I still needed "more papers" ... took me a little while to finally figure it out. Got my gear back in time to go QRV.

A lot of folks don't realize how THIRD world we have become. Of course out of USA travelers know to expect the "extra fee". Back in 2015 my wife and I even had trouble getting into Canada. We decided later it was the TEXAS on our passports that did it. It has now come to the USA.

I sure wish the best real soon for Ken.
