Title: Baofeng Echolink Issues
Post by: KD2CTJ on January 26, 2016, 08:47:58 PM
Hi all,
I'm at my wits end here. I read Brian Schell's "Echolink For Beginners" book and have attempted to replicate his exact set-up.
I have a Baofeng UV-5R connected to my computer via a Signal Link USB sound card. I've set everything in the Echolink software exactly as it is illustrated in the book. I chose a quiet simplex frequency to connect with.
I punch in the DTMF code for the Echolink test server and I connect successfully. When I hit the PTT for an audio test, the TX in the software seems to stay active until the software times it out. I don't hear my test audio played back.
I've fiddled with settings in Echolink and the knobs on the Signal Link for hours and have had no luck. If there are any Echolink gurus out there that can tell me what I am overlooking it would  be greatly appreciated. Mr. Schell's book makes this seem like such a simple set-up. So far, not so much.
Thanks in advance for the feedback.
