Title: Antenna Analyzer with STM32F7 (homebrew) from EU1KY
Post by: DH1AKF on December 22, 2017, 02:32:26 AM
Hello,
after successful building this famous analyzer, I want to announce it here.
Please have a look into the gallery:

https://bitbucket.org/kuchura/eu1ky_aa_v3/wiki/Gallery (https://bitbucket.org/kuchura/eu1ky_aa_v3/wiki/Gallery)

Some landmarks:
- frequency range: 500 kHz  ..  450 MHz
- uses a touch screen (STM32F7 Discovery)
- calculates real and complex antenna impedance
- shows the Smith- diagram
-calculates the matching values for LC- adaption
- all software is open source.

A new design was created by help of 15 russian beta- testers:

News from my Analyzer project: (EU1KY- AA450)
- frequency range exceeded, now from 100 kc to 600 Mc with the same hardware
- separate tuning window with sound and big progress bar for use in open air
- shows R and X values for the serial or parallel model, calculates resulting L and C

An idea of a different kind: It would be awesome if someone would find a buried treasure with the AA EU1KY! As a search coil a magnetic loop for 300 kHz, adapted to 50 ohms, and then you can start the search ...
Menu TUNE SWR // Sound, (to hear something)
Just an idea ...

I have purchased the analyzer and can't wait to get it!  I like the changes that you made to the software.  I will play around with it using the software it comes with, but then would like to install your modified software.

Thanks

I have received my Eu1KY analyzer and have been testing it with the installed firmware.  I appreciate the enhancements that you have made and would like to install your software.  Do you have instructions on how to install your software to the STM32F7 board?

Firmware update
Programming is done with the STM32 ST-LINK Utility from ST Microelectronics at the ST-Link connector. (USB mini plug)
https://www.st.com/en/development-tools/stsw-link004.html (https://www.st.com/en/development-tools/stsw-link004.html)

 Target> Connect: connect to the device
 File> Open File ...: load firmware in binary form
 Target> Program & Verify: program and verify
The latest version of the extended firmware can be found here:

http://www.wkiefer.de/x28/test/F7Discovery.bin (http://www.wkiefer.de/x28/test/F7Discovery.bin)

If you have more questions, please ask!
73, Wolfgang

Wolfgang,

I bought mine assembled, tested and calibrated.  After I install you firmware will I have to recalibrate it?

Yes, because the edge frequencies and the structure of some files is changed.

Now I found a description, how to make the OSL- calibration resistors themselves:

I just finished building my analyzer and am having a problem so I wondered if anyone can comment on the following:

When I try to do the HW Calibration. It gets up to 91% and then a message appears in the top left of the screen that says "No Signal. SYSTEM HALTED". I rebooted the system and tried again and it failed the same way.

When I look at the DSP window, the magnitudes are about 1991 and 2093.  The instructions say it should be 1200-1600.  Are my values too high and too different from each other?

The main menu screen says I am running 'mod DH1AFK, Build 2018-08-10 19:58 UT'

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Karl

Hi Karl,
maybe your SI5351 chip is not the latest version. Please try in the settings "SI5351_MAX_FREQ" 160 MHz, and of course
"BAND_FMAX" 479 MHz.

Wolfgang,

That did it; thank you.  Any comments on my other issue about the numbers in the DSP window?

Karl

Hi Karl,
the shown values depend on frequency and a correct 50 Ohm resistor.
In my case: 7100 MHz, 1444 and 1499 . The unit is calibrated and works fine.

In the moment I am busy with implementation of date/ time (for the screenshots).

Best regards, Wolfgang
