Title: CAUTION: KK4INY
Post by: W0BKR on May 03, 2018, 06:15:35 AM
Rcvd this email regarding a posting I had:

Hello - I am interested in purchasing and will split shipping costs with you. Hoe much do you estimate to 60041 Illinois?

Thank you:

Robert
KK4INY

Some red flags:
1.  Had not yet posted a pic or pics and no request for a pic of the item.
2.  Asked about shipment to 60041 when QTH is in FL
3.  Payment method not requested
4.   Asked for a definitive Zip code to estimate shipping and no response.
5.   Not typical inquiry or response from a potential buyer, just doesn't "feel" right.

No response when questions were sent back so suspect a hacked callsign/email.

Just be cautious.

Some people just have trouble communicating. It can be frustrating. I don't know their situation. I will give a potential buyer or seller the 'benefit of the doubt' up to a certain point. That point is reached when I feel that the 'risk' of a potential deal becomes too great.
It could still be a win-win, but have your protections in place. Best of luck to you.
