Title: Hallicrafters S-40 Parts Needed
Post by: AG5X on January 15, 2019, 05:40:44 PM
I'm in the process of restoring one of these old fellows and I need the half-moon shaped main tuning dial cover that has the vertical red marker line and band numbers on it. Would also consider purchase of a 'parts' S-40 (any model) if it has all the original knobs and a good dial cover all in ex condition. Any pointers to other potential sources for said parts would be appreciated.

I have an S40 which is in need of much repair but I think that the parts which you need are intact. The radio is in storage but I'm going to go there sometime within the next few days and I'll snap a picture for you.

Anything of it which you can use or whole radio is yours for asking - shipping cost only. Hope this helps!

look at RADIODAZE.COM
They use to have some dial parts.. seems like there was another place also they made dials for a lot of old bc/sw radios. also tubesandmore.com might have the parts. 73 Tony WA4JQS

Many thanks! My ZIP is 75791. S/H probably in the $35-$40 or so and I'd be glad to pay it if there's enough to salvage.

Hallicrafters only produced the S-40 model for ONE year, 1946.
Hallicrafters produced the S-40A model from 1947 to 1949.
There were THREE PRODUCTION REVISIONS of the model S-40 !!

FIRST TASK: Determine Model, Revision Level.
USE Schematics that Incorporate the Production model you are working on.

Ok, I finally got pictures of my S-40. It is actually an S-40A. Do you still need parts?
