Title: Vertical array vs end feed, vs dipole
Post by: W4CWL on February 08, 2019, 03:15:59 PM
Hey folks! I'm new around here, but have been licensed since '87. Getting back into the game after 20+ years of inactivity, and I find myself in an HOA with restrictive covenants, of course.

I have a hidden multiband Hy-gain vertical along the back of my property line, and am wanting to get a better signal out.

Is there any advantage of a vertical array in either the broadside, endfire, or cardioid configuration vs an End Feed vs a Dipole?

If I understand correctly, an array could generate some gain in one or two directions. I'm not so sure about the end feed or the dipole.

Thanks!

Main problem with verticals in suburban environment - high level of noise. Dipole and other balanced antennas work better in that regard.
