Title: HeathKit HR-1680 Circuit board 85-2654-1

This is the audio/regulator board that uses the LM-317T regulator. Easily recognizable because has the two vertical fin heatsink. I am looking for an accurate depiction of the circuit board, the manual is incorrect and displays the layout for the previous version using the 4 termial regulator. If you have this board can you photograph each side and forward to me?

I just downloaded the Heathkit HR-1680 HF Receiver Assembly Manual.

Yes, the LM-317 is shown on the schematic, but if you look on page 97 the PCB board layout is the old version. I am looking for the correct PCB pictorial.

I have a reprint I got from Heathkit of the later version, showing an LM317T regulator.  The pinout is shown with terminals labelled B-C-E like a transistor, which seem to correspond to the actual regulator Adj-Vin-Vout pins.

I will email a clear photo I took of the manual page to you since I don't know how to send an image in eHam postings.

Hi Ed, The pin-out for the LM317T is Pin 1 Voltage adjust, Pin 2 output and Pin 3 Input. I think that is still the incorrect PCB layout because of it still showing the transistor pin out. The schematic from the vintage-radio.com is correct, but the PCB layout is incorrect. But, please e-mail the layout you have.

I updated one of my HR-1680's to the LM-317T regulator. The traces marked C and E had to be cut and jumpers installed. PCB pin 18 is jumped to the pad marked E and PCB pin 17 is jumped to the pad marked C. Also resistor R201 has to be terminated to PCB pin 17, plus where the old regulator chip was installed Pin 2 and 3 have to be jumped. I'll email you my drawing.
