Title: Loop around the perimeter of the property.
Post by: KE8FWJ on April 06, 2019, 09:17:59 PM
Any ideas what to use to put up a loop along the perimeter of the property without raising suspicions. Wish to remain stealth, rental property in sunny Phoenix, Arizona.

Can only think of using a basketball hoop. What else can I use for the other corners?

Would appreciate to hear from those who've done something similar :)

Victor

PS: Also have a 40ft Spiderbeam which will come out after dark to use. And have a flagpole out front no higher than the apex of the house.

I've used such a loop that was resonant on 80m and worked all bands relatively well.
But I had an apple tree in one corner of the back yard, another tree in the other
corner, and a push-up mast at one point, in addition to a couple 1x2s nailed to
the fence.

The first question is, what sorts of things would generally be expected or accepted in
yards?  Bird houses or feeders on posts?  A trellise for flowering vines?  A gazebo of
some sort?  Tiki torches?  Area lighting?  Security cameras?  Sun shades for your
patio?  A post marked in feet to measure snow depth?  Frames for growing hops to
make your own beer?  Palm trees?  Tall plastic cactus?  A tall post to keep a gate
from sagging?

And if the best you can do is run the wire along the top of a wood fence for most
of the distance, it is still worth trying.

Some good ideas for supports you've mentioned, thank you. Will try them out, an 80m loop is entirely doable.

"That explains this tidbit of nonsense:

“...you need a directional antenna on top of a tower to make and maintain contacts on 20 meters."

Where did that come from?

Your words. You wrote that gem about a week ago.

https://krupniklaw.com/chapter-3-american-flag-display/
In addition to the federal law on flying the American flag, Arizona has a specific law that requires an association to allow the flying of certain flags on flagpoles on the lot:  the American flag, military flags, the POW/MIA flag, the Arizona state flag, an Arizona Indian nations flag, and the Gadsden flag.  The association shall adopt rules governing the flying of the flag, which may include limiting the member to flying no more than two flags at once and the limiting the height of the flagpole to no more than the height of the rooftop of the member’s home.  However, the association cannot prohibit the installation of a flagpole on a member’s property.

Artificial tree?  Light tower?  Pole supporting satellite dish or security cameras?  ;)
