Title: operating mobile
Post by: KD8FDD on December 31, 2007, 05:26:56 AM
I'm 14 yrs old and planning to make a trip from wv to montanna next summer. My current equpment is a ft-100d ft-802 -ft-2800 -ft-60r azden pcs -3000
I'm planning on having the back seat of our ford pickup truck for myself. I'm wanting to know what type of antennas that are very cheap I can use Because I can only have one hf antenna on the truck even though my dad call is kd8foh he is very picky about his truck. What kind of antenna would work good. I really want to be able to work 20m but I like 40 and 80 to. 73's

Go to my web site, and look under Antennas, Commercial. There are other articles covering just about every problem you're liable to encounter.

No holes in the pick-up.
Get two, one for each side.
That is what I am running. Yeasu ATAS 120 in one side and a Hustler for 60 and 75 meters on the other side.

Take a look at hamsticks, there cheap and you can change bands
easy and fast. Three hamsticks with a mount would run about $80
or less. Not the best mobile antenna but they work and the price
is right.
