Title: Any upcoming radios similar to the Kenwood D700A?
Post by: KC0VIN on February 17, 2007, 07:23:53 AM
I'm just about ready to pull the trigger on a mobile radio, and the D700A is probably the one I'm going to buy.  However, it looks like this radio has been out for a while, and I don't want to get the D700A only to have it updated/replaced by a superior model in a few months.  I've looked through many sites and forums, but haven't found anything that talks about upcoming products.  Has anyone heard of anything in the pipeline similar to the D700A?

I'm not opposed to other brands.  I have a Yaesu VX-7R HT that I'm very happy with, but the other companies don't appear to have anything that matches the D700A's dual band w/APRS function.

-Thanks

Only thing I've seen announced is the Icom IC-2820.  True dual bander.  Probaby out around Dayton time.

Look in the Misc Forum for recent posts about European publicity on Kenwood and Yaesu models to compete with the new Icom dual receive dual bander.

Excellent!  I was thinking about buying the D700A this weekend, but now I have more to consider.  Thanks for the update.
