ts 870  -  al-572 amp - arb-704 interface buffer

trying to make my own cable,this is where ive got so far


870 remote connecter----------arb-704 din connecter

   pin 7-----------------------------pin 1
   pin 6-----------------------------pin 5
   pin 2-----------------------------pin 2
   pin 4-----------------------------pin 3

am i right in saying that pin 4 on the arb-704 din plug is not used ? and if it is what is it for

First, I wouldn't think you need the interface, as the Ameritron uses low voltage keying, and the 870 has a relay contact output (if I remember correctly). Even if you do need it, Ameritron (MFJ) has interface cables for the Kenwood.

The ALC is compatible, if you adjust it according the the amps manual. You really should use a peak-reading wattmeter, but a standard one will do in most cases.

Without downloading the manuals, and comparing, I can't tell you if you've make the cable correctly. Again, I know MFJ has the correct cables available.
