Hi Jamie,

Probably the easiest way to locate local clubs is to use the locator tool on the ARRL website at http://www.arrl.org/find-a-club (http://www.arrl.org/find-a-club). Try to find a few that interest you and then attempt to find out if they have newcomer meetings that you can check out.

I found that most groups aren't too concerned about someone signing up right away if they're checking out a few different groups. Also, I would suggest seeing if they have an online newsletter or email list that you can check out to see what types of events they did in the last year to see what might interest you. Good luck!

The best way to find clubs in your area is to do a google search.  Just type in your area with amateur radio in the search.  It will bring up some in your area, you might have to weave through some other stuff.  I find that to be the easiest way.

I live in Maine, but I travel a lot down to Rhode Island.  I googled Rhode Island to find some clubs to see who has repeaters in that area.  It also provided information of clubs in regards what they do and information they provide for hams.

I hope this helps

based on your location, these might be your best bet.

http://www.wcars.org/       Western Carolina Amateur Radio Society
http://www.metersinc.org/  Middle East Tennessee Emergency Radio Service
http://www.etdxa.org/       East Tennessee DX Association

Hope that helps
