I really like the 830 too.  Unfortunately, so do a lot of people and it's become something of a collector's item.  Really nice examples tend to bring a premium and the matching accessories, like speakers, antenna tuners and vfos, do the same.  It might be financially advantageous to look at something a bit newer.  TS-850SATs are really cheap right now and likewise the 440, 450, 690 and 570 are quite reasonable.  Even the TS-590S isn't a budget buster since the 590SG came out.  These rigs are smaller and lighter than an 830 or an FT-101 and pack more useful features.  They will require a 12v power supply however.  The 850 is a classic, but find one with a serial number higher than 50 mil or so to avoid some problems the earlier ones had.

I actually bought a 850 to replace my 830 well over 15 years ago but after using them side by side I sold 850 instead of 830 and bought a 570 instead to replace a TS 140 I was using for Digi/TNC then.

TS50S with AT50S. Hard to beat and great audio on tx.
