MU/ON4ANN 20m SSB QSO confirmed on LOTW today. Actually an ATNO!

I have no LOTW confirmations from 5T5OK yet though....  Sad

Mason, congrats on the MU confirmation. Don't worry about about the 5T. Some DXpeditions upload to LOTW first their OQRS requests, and later (sometimes even 6 months later) upload the entire log. You will receive it. It's just a matter of time.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get a QSL card from either 8R1Z or 8R1AK? A year ago, I sent my QSL card to each, including SAE & $3, but no luck. They are the only ones I have worked on SSB. I've got 8R confirmed on CW and digi, but I'd like a confirmation on SSB, too.  Grin

The only 8R LOTW confirmations's I've gotten, were 8R1/AG6UT (last year) and 8R1PY (a 2012 DXpedition by PY's). My advice is to just be patient until another reliably-QSL'ing-visitor goes there.

Hi Marvin,

I received 8R1Z qsl with greens stamp & card. 8R1Z has mention before about mail theft?

Tim and Obie,

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I wish someone would go to 8R-land. Perhaps during the upcoming CQ WW DX SSB.

The postal theft is likely to blame. I just got an idea. I'll wait two more months, and then at the beginning of December I will send my QSL + SAE + $3 inside a thick envelope with a X-mas card. It will not look like an envelope from a ham, it may have a better chance of reaching the destination.  Grin

Mauritania confirmed TWICE today for ATNO# 317

QSL in the mail for 5T3MM via PY4KL, 20m CW in April, op. was 5T0JL (now SK)
-and- multiple bands/modes on LoTW from 5T5OK.

The postal theft is likely to blame.

I flew to Guyana earlier this year for a planned 30 day DXpedition. I was told being issued the 8R1/KC0W license would be issued "upon arrival". This was after roughly 3 months of email exchanges with the Guyanese Ministry of Public Telecommunications. They requested the same licensing form be submitted over & over & over again to a different person every time as well. They are truly a bunch of government officials crazier than a bunch of $hithouse rats...........Long story short I was never issued the license. This was after spending thousands of dollars flying to Guyana from Equatorial Guinea & staying in Georgetown, Guyana for almost 2 weeks. If anyone else wants to try getting licensed for 8R land I wish you the best of luck!!!

 Regarding mail theft:

I mailed numerous packages to the USA & Europe while in Guyana. Every single one of them reached their intended recipient just fine. Going to the main post office in Georgetown is an experience everyone should have at least once in their lifetime..............This DXing stuff ain't always easy.  Smiley

Congrats John.  5T is a good catch for #317.  Do you have anymore low-hanging fruits left?  Smiley  I know I don't, haha.

Regarding mail theft:

Over the years I lost a lot of money to 8R postal workers.  After so much trouble I finally have 10-80m confirmed on three modes on 8R.  It took a lot of contacts and a few that uploaded to LoTW.  I'm so glad to get 8R off of my list.

I was looking forward to your operation from Guyana Tom.  Especially on the low bands?

According to my DXCC records I got my SSB contact with 8R1 way back in 1986 when I was running QRP SSB from a 2nd floor apartment. If you check the historical records 1986 was a time of very poor sunspot activity, even worse than current conditions. So, even though I didn't know it back then, I worked a pretty good DX contact from a very compromised station at the bottom of the Sunspot cycle.

8R1Z required two direct QSL attempts.  The second "delivered".  That was for QSOs in 2013 and 2014.

Obie, I'm a longtime LOTW user but not much of an IOTA chaser.

I have a question about tracking IOTA's with LOTW. Is there a LOTW report that will tell you about new IOTA's confirmed, or do you click on each QSO to learn which IOTA it is, or do you download LOTW QSL's to a logging program that tracks new IOTA confirmations for you?
