FY5KE and CN2AA uploaded to LoTW.  My CN2AA confirmation on 160m has brought me to 96 confirmed on 160m.  I'm so close and yet so far away from 100 Cheesy  Just one or two more EU openings on 160m would be nice.  160m band condition has been crappy lately...

Thanks James.  It took me a while to get everything figured out on the hardware needed for 160m.  I went through several TX antennas and now I have a dedicated RX antenna which helps tremendously.  Believe me it's not an easy road to get to this point.  There was a lot of trials and tribulations.

My 160m confirmed total jumped up significantly recently as I had several EU openings in Dec. and Jan.  Prior to Dec. 2016 I only had one EU contact (E74AW) from Feb. 2016.  I have worked CU many times in contests but I haven't been able to confirm those contacts despite a great deal of effort using direct QSLs.  Figures.  And CU wasn't in the recent 160m contest.

Thought I had worked CN2AA as well on 160m, but when I checked there's no confirmation. Maybe better luck next time.

Did get a PJ2T confirmation earlier, and a match on ClubLog for P40AA, so I'm +2 (15 total) on 160m.

My 160M QSO with CU2CE was really wierd.  Not only was it on Monday, but it was also the 2016 leap day.  It was on SSB and confirmed via LoTW!

I have a total of four contacts with CU on 160m.  Two with CR2X and two with CU2KG.  CU2KG's last LoTW upload was in 2012.  I guess 2012 was the year Martti abandoned LoTW.  I have sent Martti both buro and direct QSL cards with more than sufficient postage.  But so far no return QSL.  I guess Martti is too busy traveling and has fallen behind on his QSLs?  He must get a ton of QSLs as he now doesn't do LoTW anymore.

Welcome to 160m.  It's a fun band.  What kind of TX and RX antennas do you have on 160m?

I'm at the very early stages of my 160m setup. I am just using my 100 foot dipole for now, which I know is far too short. My first plan for improvement is a receive antenna. I'm considering a k9ay antenna since it fits on a small lot... or.. if I can figure out how to get over the river.. I might sneak a beverage antenna in as there is a ton of unused / un travelled woods. For transmit I'll probably eventually put up an L. Lastly, I would want to build a 160m amp or change out my SB-200. I am hoping to get to Dayton this year and check out the new location.. so perhaps I'll be looking at some new shack / antenna additions Smiley

Very good James.  Just remember this.  On 160m there's no substitute for size.  If everything else is equal the bigger the better Grin  I would go for a beverage antenna if you can sneak one in.  You will have to consider wildlife damage if the area is wooded and the beverage is hung low.  By the way, the worst thing to happen to a 160m DXer is to have a RX antenna break and the DXer not knowing it.  Since you can't transmit into a dedicated RX antenna,  you cannot test a RX antenna other than by doing a physical inspection or a comprehensive RX test.  As me how I know Cheesy

If you tie your dipole's feedline together at ground level, and feed the feedline like a "vertical" or "Marconi T" against ground (better, ground+radials), you have a very nice antenna there.

I am very happy with a small K9AY loop for receive.
