I have a 5' homebrew Magnetic Loop that sets 6" off the ground. I've worked quite a few DX contacts in Europe. Lately the power From the amp has been dropping drastically when I start transmitting. I traced the problem to the one to one Toroidal Core transformer I was using. The transformer was one loop of #12 around the core with the copper loop as the other winding. The core got Hot Hot Hot. I have asked Amidon for a recommendation but I'm not sure they understood.

I used a single core prior to buying the Clippertron and it worked well. After I got the amp I wrapped two together which worked well for several weeks. I'm not sure what the were as its been some time since I purchased them.

Does anyone have an idea as to what core I should use?
