Whenever you hear someone like that on the air traffic control freqs, it's always some little goober thinking it's his way of mixing it up with the big boys.
For lulz, see if you can find the SR-71 air speed check clip.

Navy flyboy done been had, all official-like.

Radio spotting is a very popular sub hobby for anal retentive hams. You're watching a movie or TV show and the characters are using radios. You know you've got it bad when  one of the characters picks up a microphone and you pray that the camera gets a close up of the radio.  When it doesn't happen you curse at the TV for being cheated of your pleasure.

Oh man, OK.  Well, it's the web, so I'll be frustratingly vague.

Let's just say (write) that there's a HUGE other story to the esteemed author.  So, if you like to read about the SR, anything written by Rich Graham is dead-on accurate, and exactly as things happened back then.  He was THE finest commander I ever had, in 26 years wearing blue.

As for Sled Driver author, well..........

I know the real K2SO, Steve Ostrove. Next time I run into him I'll have to see if he knows about that droid matching up with his callsign.

I'm pretty sure if Cyprus can issue C4A then Andorra can skip their second number and issue C3PO.
