There's a growing group that want to run Contest mode on 6 meters.
It's already almost modi-operendus  on 2 meters and 222MHz MSK144.
I'm with the group that thinks it's fine and will cut down on the time needed to complete a legitimate QSO.
Ever morning there's a large group of East Coast and Mid-West stations on 50.260 making randoms.
What do you think?

It would be okay if everybody did it. The problem I've had during contests is that some call CQ with contest mode and some do not. If you have contest mode selected and answer a non-contest CQ you get locked in a loop and waste a lot of time until you figure out what is going on and change the selection. It would be nice if the mode was indicated in the CQ.

Why not just skip TX1 and/or using RR73 instead? At least the base protocol is still compatible unlike using contest mode which scrambles the grid square....Tim (N0TB)

Tim, not a bad idea although most of us stop at RRR and never send 73's more than once.
73's are optional and the contact's complete when RRR's are RX'ed.
I've decided unless the contacts pre arranged for Contest Mode to use regular signal report mode on 6 meters.
I think doing otherwise will just confuse everyone, especially new Op's.
