Need a set of these tubes, prefer new.  Anybody have a new set they want to sell?  Any info on direct Russian sales?  QRO PARTS in Russia does not seem to offer any guarantee yet have a decent price on a matched pair.  Anybody buy from him?  Any other sources besides dealers who seem to double the price?

Lou - no info on that but this may just be another possibility worth checking (or closing out):

Hi,

Tom Hix, W4TH of Toms' Tubes, is SK in 2006.  A great guy....

Array Solutions will do a detailed test of the tube and give you a signed off test certificate with important test results. I was very impressed.

email Steve NN4X: nn4x@embarqmail.com  I think he has 2 brand new Eimac 4CX800A tubes , never used for sale

That's a good trick, Eimac never made the 4CX800 (tetrode).  ETO asked them to make them in the 90's, the reply was that everyone would build an amp using that tube but then they would buy the cheap Russian surplus tubes (the GU74b) instead of the Eimac tubes.

Try Vesselin...

lz1hd@yahoo.com

He makes the Alpin range of amplifiers and tests all his GU-74B's and would sell you a closely matched pair. Wink

Convert it to AB1 4-400's and be happy with 1200W. GG 3-500's is another option.....height is a concern. in some amps.

Otherwise expect prices to keep going up unless Svetlana in Russia starts building them again.
