Maybe Verizon and the FCC could get together and include a free Extra license with every new phone contract.

As far fetched as this sounds, it is within the realm of possibly given what has happened to ham radio

No it isn't.

Some things have changed. Some things haven't.

Yep, or the FT-450, and a few other predictable triggers.

It's a cesspool that they leave alone.  They wouldn't be able to collect any fines from the trailer park 10-20s of those idiots anyway.  Now that TV is cable etc, the first harmonic doesn't get into any TVs today.  Problem solved.

Nobody OWNS anything!! If the net is not a problem for anyone on the frequency all is good.  If the net wants to talk about impotent net-stuff that's fine.  If it turns into a hour long gab-fest for erectile dysfunction and boils that is OK too.

I was working in the shack the other day on a rig I was fixing for a friend of mine.  I had it on the bench and had my rig on listening on 40 meters around 7.150 I think it was.  Anyway there was no activity for at least 45 minutes but I didn't care I was working on a rig just listening to background static.  A gentleman came in and asked if the freq was in use and gave his call.  Another gentleman came back to him and said yes it is without giving his call.  Band conditions lately are bad so I thought I couldn't hear the QSO that was going on.  About 15 minutes later another person asked if the freq was in use and gave his call.  Same response yes it is without a callsign.  To me it sounded like the same person but I don't know he didn't use a callsign.  This guy asked him for his call.  No response.  He asked again if the freq was in use. No response.  He asked again if the freq was in use no response.  Now I'm listening and the guy calls CQ twice someone came back to him and they were having a great QSO.  That is when all the jamming, music playing, carriers ETC... started happening.  They finally just signed and left.

This is a internet forum that does not require it's users to use a callsign, name ETC... just a username like almost ALL internet forums do.  If you would like that to change please voice your concerns to E-Ham.  On the air you are required to identify yourself.  What I heard on the air and described above is a example of what is becoming the norm.  I own this freq and will run you off without identifying myself.  That's exactly what happened.  Very sad.

Well, whatever ridiculously inconsistent logic soothes your conscience, I suppose.

What I said is what I mean.  If you can't understand it that's unfortunate.  I don't think I could have made it more simple to understand.

Uh, clarity wasn't the issue, OM.  Sorry you don't understand that.
