Some of those SSB ops are on 7.200 every night.  A lot of folks complain about that.  Perhaps the equipment that some of that group uses has bad IMD.

Heath had the SB10, which took 3 watts or so of drive from a CW tx and had a phasing type SSB generator in it: that delivered about 10 watts of SSB back to the AM tx PA, which could be re biased into a linear mode. Popular over here with the DX100.
