To sort of piggy back on my last question - The 7800 can send rec "Data" via a cable on the rear of the radio- can I use this same cable to program the radio as well? are the cables different? they look the same Huh

i'm not clear on your question.

I purchased the RT systems software and cable for my Yaesu 7900. the cable is model USB-29B    it plugs into the radio Data port, and specifically intended for programming.

This same port is used for packet (audio & PTT) as well, but not with the 29B cable.

Is there a different cable you have with a six pin DIN connector on one end and a USB connector on the other?

I think you are talking about send and receive audio for a TNC or Sound Card. There are plenty of diagrams on the Internet.
