Hello all, I've installed the Commander VX-7 programming software and the screen to enter frequency and all is grayed out so it will not let me enter any programming data. My proflic USB to serial cable works fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried looking up KC8UNJ email for his help but I can't find an address for him either.

Also, CHIRP works downloading from Yaesu VX7r but always errors out when trying to upload to the HT radio. Any thoughts here?

Thanks and 73

Did you download from the radio first?

VX7 requires a downloaded file from a radio before the editor is active.

Also what cable are you using, as I remember the Rt systems cable won't work.

 I use a Valley enterprise RPC-Y7R-UF CABLE  for my VX5, VX6 and VX7 with no issues under Win 7, win 8, win 8.1 both 32 and 64 bit PC's.

Brilliant Mike.......Commander now works perfectly!!! Many thanks, using a PC is much more convenient than entering data by hand.
