I didn't see this anywhere else so I will try here.  You can search QRZ by US location/address.  Is there a database of German hams you can search by location?

Thanks and 73,

Mike

Hi Mike,

I didn't see this anywhere else so I will try here.  You can search QRZ by US location/address.  Is there a database of German hams you can search by location?

we've got an official database at https://ans.bundesnetzagentur.de/Amateurfunk/Rufzeichen.aspx where you can search by callsigns only.
There's also a PDF with all callsigns, names and addresses (except of those who asked not to be listed) which you can find here: https://www.bundesnetzagentur.de/SharedDocs/Downloads/DE/Sachgebiete/Telekommunikation/Unternehmen_Institutionen/Frequenzen/Amateurfunk/Rufzeichenliste/Rufzeichenliste_AFU.pdf

This can be used to search for hams in a certain area by searching for the post code (or the first three/four figures of the five number code to get a little wider search) and / or the name of the place.

A few years ago someone created Google Maps markers for all hams listed in the document above, the result can be found here: https://fusiontables.google.com/data?docid=1B0NjdT71bcqjlPx2em7lovAyx8Zx2f9e24endegP#map:id=3
It's a bit outdated now, but might still be easier to navigate than the PDF list.

I don't know what you're up to, but if you're looking to get in touch with local hams in a certain area, you may also give it a try and find the nearest local DARC chapter. Follow this link and enter the post code or the name of the city/town: https://www.darc.de/en/home/#c153658

Thank you Fabian. My wife and I are taking a trip to Germany the end of August.  I was in a military family when I was young.  We are visiting all the places I lived - Bad Tolz, Heidelberg and Berlin. I was born in Frankfurt A/M but don't have any memories of that!
