I had to dismantle a 40 meter DC receiver that I homebrewed in about 1970. It really hurt to junk it as I have held onto it for "old times" sake. I'd prefer something like an old Ramsey kit or similar.

I would like to hear about one that I could build and put into my old cabinet. Anyone know of one? (Under 100 dollars if possible.) Maybe even one that is already built that I could modify and install in my case.

$30 kit.

$50 40M superhet kit.

As I recall during the past decade there have been many simple receiver kits
available. Google is your friend.

Thanks, Mike! Once again you've come through for me. I'm grateful. Lots of studying to do now! LOL

Mike,
I prefer a DC to a Superhet, so the $30.00 one looks good except for the need of frequency tuning w/o veractors. My old, stripped cabinet contains a variable capacitor tuning dial that I'd like to retain.
I'll keep checking, but at least you've got me going in the right direction, though I don't want to be sending for a unit in the Russian or Chinese part of the world. Hi.

As I recall, a year or two before its demise, TenTec was selling single band DC Rx kits.

Maybe one of them is still around.

Best of luck.

Judas Priest! I figured from your last note that I would just check out Ebay for anything relative to "Ten Tec". Holy Moly, bat man! Pages and pages long. LOL
Gotta do some reading!

Sad Still looking!! Don't want to buy from Russia or China. Maybe I can even find a DC and transplant it into my case, if all else fails. I'll keep checking Ebay.
