I put an ad on QTH ads.. got a response from a ham calling himself K5BCN.  His return email is to a guy named Rob Watson (robwatson2626@gmail.com)  You can look K5BCN up on QRZ and see the name difference.  Buyer says he'll send cashier check for $50 more than I'm asking to "hold it for him", and he'll give me shipping instructions later..  Search of his IP is in Australia..  lol can it get better than that?  At least he's not in Nigeria.

He may well be in Nigeria.  IP's are easy to spoof.

I see another scam like this on the forum below. I follow that its a total scam. Just trying to figure it out.
The extra money just for fun, so the check has one address, the buyer has another, and the ship to address is probably another. Oh and the check just happens to be a personal check or a forged certified check..

Scam artists have been around since forever, it's just that nowadays they have reduced it to a formula that any idiot can use and a few people will fall for. I recall when I worked in a Gasoline station: a guy drove in, showed us a huge wallet full of gasoline cards so we started filling his tank. Guess what? He had carefully done the selection so that none of his cards were accepted by our corporation. One bright guy thought of having him drive to a station that would take one of his cards and put gasoline in our tow truck. We started pumping gas into the tow truck and he turned the pump off and became very belligerent. He just did not want to pay for gasoline and he thought he was entitled so yeah: sociopath. He was driving a full sized luxury car of course!

Its all an entitlement society now it seems.  Scammers get offended if you call them on the carpet, some go into hiding and resurface...have to vigilant at all times

I got a tv with antenna at work, I don't turn it on often sometimes to see the news. The scams on tv are incredible. Aimed at the uniformed, aimed at older folks. If you google some of the companies the results can be terrible. The commercials are paid for by using a hi profit margin.
I had a salesman come by offering telephone service,, seemed pretty good until I checked the reviews online. The company wants your credit card for autopay and any other sort of needed fee's. The internet was full of people trying to find a way out of a contract, When I told the salesman this he didn't put up a fight.

You ain't smelled anything 'til you smelled a dead racoon in 95 degree weather.

There's a heck of a lot more racoon to stink!

Two attractive ladies approached me in a airport with their pigeon drop scam once. I said "oh, is this the one where we visit my bank and i wind up with an envelope full of newspaper?" They said not another word, just drifted off into the crowd...

A few years ago I wasted a couple of weeks living out of my car and trying to find a place to rent using Craigslist. It was horrible; NOTHING BUT scams! I fell for none of it but they caused me so much grief while I was really in a bind. Essentially nobody can do much about them via legal means. I say prayers asking God to investigate any and all people that are stealing my blessings. I ask that He pay me multiple times over as per Old Testament law and take it from them. I always accept God's first offer of course. I'd have to say that works great actually; I went from homeless a few years ago to the point where now I can buy a house for the girl of my dreams I married three days ago, start a business, maybe even have a top of the line ham station! If anybody wonders why scammers, thieves, and devil worshippers are always impoverished it's because of guys like me and I'm happy to serve the cause to say the least...

Keep the faith Ac7cw, it can get pretty depressing with all the scams out there. Living out out of a car is tough, and hopefully the weather is good, probably not as good a southern california. I've noticed that so many are camping stealth style now thats its hard to do the same without being noticed.
I think I've read of the pigeon drop, not totally sure of the details, can't believe that people try that stuff and get away with it.
