I think I have the designation correct for this tube.  Anyway, it is remarked to be a replacement for a pair of 3-500zg's (sounds like more plate capacity than even two more like 3 3-500's).  So, anyone familiar with it yet to know if one can be plugged into an existing 2 tube 3-500zg amp such as a Henry 2K Classic X, block off the air flow to the other hole, and run this new tube?

There has been a lot of discussion on the AMPS reflector in the last two weeks re this tube. Go to contesting.com and find amps reflector. Click on that and look especially at March 16. There is a link which can give you the tube specs.

You can plug it into one socket and block the other off but you must make sure that a proper chimney is used to force air up the fins. You must also use a larger blower which means pressurizing the underside of the chassis to cool the tube pins and push air up the chimney. The tube will be about $600 so you might want to consider buying some good chinese graphite 3-500'z from RF Parts.
