I recently obtained a Dx Eagle pager base station. This is a 500 watt rack mounted unit set at 172.425 MHz

Before I pull out the screwdriver, I wanted to see if anyone has any experience converting these units to 2 meters.

Here's my take. You're going to have a tough time converting the transmitter. The frequency is about 20% removed from 2 meters, and that's a bunch (!) when you're doing VHF conversions. While anything is possible if you throw enough money into it, this is one project best bypassed if for no other reason, than the money it would take.
