Anyone know of a current source for Motorola MRF 454 power transistors? Thanks

Good Luck, you'll need it. The MRF454s haven't been made since about 1996 or 7. The last "real" price I saw was $145 for a matched pair. Depending on the amp, you might be able to switch over to 2SC2290s, but that's not a given. They're about $45 per matched pair, and are still being made.

The nonobtainium status of the MRF454s is why I wouldn't recommend purchasing a amp that used them, unless it worked perfectly, and you don't pay too much.

Metrons MA1000 (TW500), Hercules II, The Henry SS750, the original SG500, and a couple of others all used them. Only the SG500 can be converted, and then only after a certain serial number.

Rf parts list them at $32.00 each.
communication-concepts list them at $25.50 each
 and i think the NTE335 might be usable as a replacment but you best ask the folks who know first.

Moto is long out of that business, but ASI (adsemi.com) still lists them on the website.  Also the SGS-Thomsen SD1405 is a very close replacement.
