i have a yaesu ft-8800 that i do alot of simplex work with and would like to get an amplifier for it but with it being 2 mtr and 440 would i need to switch it out of line when i went over to 440 or would a 2 mtr amp simply ignore  440 and only engage when it sensed 2 mtr input..also would i lose power on 440 going through a 2 mtr only amp...the only dual band amp i have found is the marage bd-25 ht amp which is not what i need..... can somebody please help me because the internet is useless on this subject

You're out of luck.

The only way to do this, is to use two diplexers, to split the incoming bands (assuming one coax from the radio), into separate amps. If necessary, you diplex them back together to feed the antenna.
