I have 2 antenna's a Diamond Discone and a homebuilt Quadrafilar Helical Antenna. I am looking for a reasonably priced Antenna Preamp for the 137mhz band, or an all purpose wideband preamp, or both.

Searching the internet has pulled a few preamps for narrow ranges of freequencies I do not need or they are rather expensive or require being built. I can build one if the parts aren't too hard to come buy and don't require etching circuit boards.

I would not be transmitting at all.

Any help would be appreciated.

Advanced Receiver Research model P136VDG is perfect for this application, is factory tuned for the 137 MHz band, has 20 dB gain and 0.5 dB noise figure (receive only preamp), for $79.95.

It would be difficult to homebrew an equivalent product for similar cost.

An inexpensive TV preamp should work.  If you have one available give it a try.
