You asked what radio has a suitable NB?  My FT-100D has a wonderful Noise Blanketer, better than any other radio I have ever owned! Even on its full setting it has never distorted SSB signals or Broadcast AM signals. It will somewhat distort the AM signals from CB radios but thats cause the audio from CBs are already distorted! (hi hi)

Look into the Yaesu line of HF radios. My guess is they will have a new mobile HF radio soon that compete with the ICOM-7000.
