My L-4 has had a cracked chimney in it since I purchased it a year ago.  I haven't had time to use it other than to recap and diode the supply.  I have tuned it up several times and transmitted to check for proper operation.

My question is this, I have acquired an inexpensive Eimac 3-500Z chimeny, will the difference in height retract from the cooling effect, or will it work well enough until I come across a 3-400 chimney?

Many thanks gentlemen!

Not an elegant solution, but would hi-temp epoxy on the old chimney work?  (It beats duct tape.)  At least until you find a proper replacement part.
