While tuning up my AL-82 the other day, I noticed a sudden drop in power level...then sudden return to full power. While operating the power level went up and down sporadically. What does this sound like? Antenna problem? Coax problem? Amp going crazy? Level changes were always instantaneous.

This isn't the answer you're looking for I suspect; problems like this can be caused by a myriad of conditions. It could be the AC power, RF drive, bad coax connector, loose connection just about anyplace, and quite a few more. Start at the front (AC power), and work your way through is my only suggestion.
