My 9 yr old just got his tech and is excited about all kinds of stuff-ham related. APRS is on his list.

Watching my budget, I was checking my inventory. IC-T22A, GPS (I have a 60CX but would prefer to use a Garmin 12XL that is just sitting here).

Anyone using the T22A and a 12XL?

The 12XL should do nicely for APRS.  GPS/TNC cables are available on EBay for around $9.

The only down side is the antenna; internal only which means you would have to place the receiver in a location where is can 'see' the sky.
